1904 Grammar School

This Grammar School was built in August 1904 at a cost of $1975 by contractor William Bruce. It was a two-story frame building with four classroom also built on the three-acre Ferry and Fremont site (now the site of the old Central School Building). Along with the other two school buildings on the site, it allowed the district to add the ninth grade. In 1904, 226 pupils attended Monroe schools of which 11 were in ninth grade. The nearest high school was in Snohomish.
