This photo of the 1912 Independence Day Festivities was taken looking west up Main Street (from about point F on this detail of the 1910 platmap) through the intersection with Lewis Street and shows a number of buildings recognizable today, particularly on the near left, which is the block that burned in the 1901 fire. This was the last year such festivities would be held on a dirt road as Main Street was paved later that same summer.
