Students in front of the Second Tualco School Building in 1929
Monroe Historical Society photo #627
This school building, the second on the Tualco Road site, was constructed in 1908 and used until 1939. It is now the home of the
Tualco Grange.
The first school in the Tualco Valley was held in the summer of 1873 in the home of Andrew Johnson. The Tualco School District was formally organized in
1876 and was the second school district in the Monroe area. The first schoolhouse (sometimes called the Harriman School) was built two years later at a cost
of $750. A second room was added to that building in 1903. Photo taken Sept. 5, 1929.
