Monroe Union High School

Monroe Union High School c1927
Monroe Historical Society photo #510

View looks north showing front (south) side of the school and part of what is presumed to be a vocational training annex on the east side (at far right). The school opened in September 1911 and was torn down in the summer of 1965 after the April earthquake damaged it. A new high school was built on the same site on the southeast corner of Hill and Kelsey Streets, which opened in the fall of 1967. Today it is Monroe Middle School.
