The Methodist Church
Monroe Historical Society photo #312
This is the second church to occupy this site on South Lewis Street. The first was built in 1896 and was the first church in Monroe.
It was replaced by this imposing brick church
in 1924, about when this photo was taken. At that time it was still referred to as the Methodist-Episocopal Church, which is today's United Methodist Church.
