The Monroe National Bank opened on July 15, 1909, in this handsome new building at 107 West Main Street that still stands, and the name of the bank can still be seen set in the tile at the entrance. The bank was closed in 1933 during the Depression and the First National Bank of Monroe tooks over its assets and moved into the building, where it stayed until 1955.
