Centennial MonumentPhotos copyright Monroe Historical Society In honor of Monroe's Centennial, the Tualco Grange dedicated a handsome rough stone and bronze monument at Lewis Street Park in honor of Monroe Pioneers from 1860-1900. The bronze sculpture was based on MHS photo #10 and shows a family in an ox cart on the way to market. The sculpture was created by Kevin Petelle of Soul in Bronze Studio, Sultan. The dedication ceremonies on May 3 were opened with the ringing of the old Tualco School Bell now owned by the Tualco Grange. The dedication was moderated by Don Steffen and included a display of photos from the MHS collection.
