The focus of our July 20, 2006 meeting was a walking tour featuring a now-and-then look at Old Town Monroe. We had a half-dozen or so business owners join us for the ninety-minute tour.

Howard Voland made notebooks that featured 40 photos from our collection along with a narrative history to go with the photos.

We were also serenaded by the sights and sounds of current Main Street as we walked–fire engines and emergency vehicles as they headed for the river, more than one train, as well as the current-day traffic. It was an enjoyable and informative tour.

These notebooks are now available from the Museum and from the Monroe Chamber office and can be used for a self-guided tour. Thank you Howard for all your work.!
