Donations needed to purchase 1940 fire truck

Local couple and MHS life members, Sharon and David Damkaer have offered to sell their historic fire truck to the Monroe Historical Society for display in its museum. Engine No. 2, a Mack Truck fire engine, was purchased new for the Monroe Fire Department in 1940 and was housed in the same space the museum now occupies   The Society is seeking $6,000 in donations to purchase the fire truck and is hoping the Monroe community will rally round to bring the old fire engine back home to its original fire house. If you would like to make a donation to help purchase the truck, contact Beth Stucker at 360-794-0636. All donations are tax deductible.

Thank you Rhonda Dean!  Rhonda is a teacher from the Monroe Montessori School who gave her students the challenge of bringing in their pennies to help raise funds for our 1940 Mack Fire Truck.  Rhonda’s class raised over $543.00 to go toward the purchase of the Fire Engine.  What a Great Job Children and Rhonda and her co-teacher Joni Edelbrock!     The truck is currently housed at the Damkaer home and will be getting a tune up and a bit of needed work soon so that we can have it for display this  summer.

Many thanks also go to all those who have already responded to our call for donations and have contributed toward the purchase of this valuable piece of our building history, with your help we are nearing the halfway point of our goal.
