This birdseye view of Monroe was taken in 1907 looking south down Lewis Street, which is the street running down the middle of the photo. Most of the easily recognizable buildings in this photo no longer exist, although if you look carefully at the full-size view, you should be able to make out the Dolloff building (southeast corner of Main and Lewis), the Congregational Church (South Lewis), and the top of Stephens Hospital (now the Allison Apartments on West Main).
